About

Hi! My name is Kirakarn Churnakoses, but everyone just calls me Kira. I was born and raised in Bangkok, Thailand. I moved to California when I was 19 to further my education and fortunately discovered and attended ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, CA. There I learned and developed into a multi-faceted designer with a strong graphics background, and a strong understanding of the transition between 2D into 3D forms and vice versa.

In school, my interest gravitated to technology, data visualization, infrastructure and geometry, in part due to its clinical nature and my desire to contrast this with a layer of vibrancy, warmth, style, and intuition. This forms the main ethos of my work, a dynamic combination of serious, whimsical, and fun blended with complex data in a minimalistic presentation. This combination allows me to find and achieve unexpected solution sets, that humanize information, data and allow the end user to understand and approach the subject more comfortably. Recently most of my work has explored the digital landscape and how it can affect brands, social trends and user experience. This area is poised for huge growth and global impact and has been very rewarding to learn, explore and contribute to.

My work challenges the idea of branding, concept and creating experiences and forward communications through design and spaces. I strive to achieve and experiment with different and unique solutions, to broaden my visual and creative horizons.

Throughout my career I have worked with multidisciplinary architecture companies, branding strategy, and advertising agencies; Nike, Reebok, Mazda, Belkin, Barneys New York, Nordstrom, Huge, Studio GAIA, and State of Tomorrow.

These multi-disciplinary experiences have allowed me to pursue my vision and work with others in team situations to achieve amazing results. In the last few years I have shared my knowledge and begun lecturing and creating workshops about experiential design for colleges and universities in both US and Thailand. Through my experiences, I have matured, developed and adopted many processes and experiences toward advertising, brand development, visual concept direction, digital design, and social media approaches.

When I am not creating, or designing, I love to travel, explore places through driving, making things with my hands, and surfing websites to feed my curiosity.
